Main Purpose of Job:     

  • Deliveries to local area maintaining customer service standards and ensuring compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation
  • Loading and unloading vehicles
  • Daily vehicle checks and complying with company procedures and drivers’ regulations
  • Complying with health & safety procedures at all times

Main Requirements of Job:

  • Driving licence essential
  • Counterbalance forklift licence desirable
  • Customer service skills essential
  • Experience in delivery driving and local knowledge desirable
  • Health and safety awareness essential
  • Product knowledge desirable
  • Able to work from collection and delivery tickets and pick orders
  • Able to work as part of a team

Delivery of building materials to customers along with tipping screed and loose aggregate with use of tipper vehicle

  • Ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction by delivering and, where possible, exceeding customers’ expectations.
  • Delivery of building products to customers adhering to all traffic laws
  • Liaising with manager to co-ordinate delivery routes, remaining flexible in order to restructure schedules if needed.
  • Ensuring that the supporting branch and vehicle paperwork is carried out and that at all times the vehicle maintained to the standards laid down by the Road Transport / Traffic Legislation, and to company instructions – including all pre-operational checklists and defect reports.
  • Ensuring vehicle is kept clean and tidy
  • Notifying any possible sales leads to the internal sales team.
  • Order picking for deliveries
  • Loading and unloading vehicles using a vehicle mounted loader
  • Moving stock both manually and by the safe operation of mechanical handling equipment

Serving customers in the yard and warehouse, together with general warehouse duties

  • Assisting yard and warehouse staff when required
  • Serving customers quickly and efficiently, ensuring compliance with branch paperwork
  • Order picking for deliveries
  • Loading and unloading vehicles and moving stock both manually and by the safe operation of mechanical handling equipment
  • Offloading suppliers vehicles
  • Putting stock away whilst ensuring stock rotation
  • Maintaining a high standard of general housekeeping
  • Complying with health & safety procedures at all times
  • Reporting to the branch manager any unlawful behaviour

General

Hours

  • Basic 40 hours Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4pm
  • Saturdays on a rota basis 7.30am – 12.30noon
  • Bank Holidays
  • Stocktake weekend

Salary – £18,600 plus bonus and benefits
